Frequently asked questions

How we work. Where we work. What we do and do not do on an aircraft.

What is aircraft appearance management?

One company takes responsibility for how the aircraft looks inside and out. Exterior and cabin care is scheduled. Condition is documented after every visit. Someone is accountable when the aircraft needs to be ready.

Which aircraft do you work on?

Private and business aircraft, from owner-flown pistons and turboprops to light and midsize jets. Tell us the make and model when you request service.

Which airports do you cover?

We are based at Waukegan National Airport (UGN). Regular service locations include Chicago Executive (PWK), DuPage (DPA) and Kenosha Regional (ENW). We also serve other airports in Illinois, Wisconsin and Northern Indiana. Service beyond our standard local area may include a travel charge.

Do you perform maintenance?

No. RampCraft provides appearance services only. We do not repair, adjust, remove or disconnect anything on the aircraft. We make no maintenance records. Anything that looks abnormal is photographed and reported to the operator.

How do you protect sensitive areas like pitot tubes and static ports?

They are identified during the walkaround before any work begins. They are never sprayed or polished. Instructions from the manufacturer or operator always take precedence over our standard procedure.

How do you document the aircraft's condition?

Every job starts with a walkaround and a time-stamped photo set of the exterior and cabin. Close-ups of existing marks are included. The same set is taken after the work. You receive both.

Are you insured?

Yes. RampCraft is professionally insured. Certificates of insurance are available to FBOs, hangar owners and operators on request.

Do you need water or a wash rack?

No. Our standard exterior service is a waterless dry wash done where the aircraft sits. Traditional wet washing is only done where the airport and FBO permit it.

Are you available outside business hours?

Yes. RampCraft offers 24/7 on-call service for early departures, late arrivals and short-notice requests. Availability depends on crew, airport access, location and scope.

How is pricing set?

Pricing depends on aircraft size, condition and the service. Request service with your aircraft type. We send a quote before any work is scheduled.

Tell us where the aircraft is and when it flies next.

We confirm scope, timing and access before anything is scheduled.
